Before hearing Stan's message if you would have asked me if I read the Bible, I would have told you that I read it every day. I would still tell you that I read it every day, but WHY I read it is another thing to ponder. Stan's message really made me think about the WHY behind reading my Bible. Is it to KNOW MORE about God, or is it to SPEND TIME with God?
I like to beat myself up a little, but God really challenged me to read the Bible to want to SPEND MORE TIME with Him, just hanging out. Heart knowledge VS Head knowledge. When we're hanging out, He will show me the things He wants me to learn.
After chewing on this for a day, God put the words "I will command my Angels concerning you" in my head. I couldn't get them out of my head. I knew I had read this before, so I used the concordance in the back of my Bible to look it up. I found it in Psalm 91. The part of Psalm 91 that really jumped out at me was verse 14 "Because he loves me says the Lord". We always think about God's love for us, but this spins it around and has God saying "Because he loves me". Because I love God, Because you love God, etc. Because he loves me, I will rescue him, I will protect him...Go and read it for yourself.
It just made me think that God loves us, but if we love God, He knows it and is there to help us. I think He is just waiting for more of us to come and hang out with Him.
